WSJ Stock Market Game

Posted Eureka Lessons Economics, Lessons

For as long as I can remember, high school economics teachers have played the stock market game with their students at the end of the year.  The only difference between then and now is the internet has made playing it so much easier.  Wall Street Journal's Market Watch game provides an incredibly useful virtual trading platform for the classroom complete with forums, stock tips, tutorials, and admin settings (you can set parameters for your students to make the game as simple or complex as you're comfortable with).  This game motivates students to research business organizations, stay current with financial news, and apply learned concepts to real world finance.  To set up the game, you will need to secure the computer lab for a few days.  The rest can be done at home on their own computers.  See attached Stock Portfolio Guidelines for the game.
