Geography of Rome

If you're familiar with the GRAPES method of teaching history, you know that you should probably begin any new unit with geography.  These resources include blank maps for students to label empire borders, present day countries, key cities, and geographic features.  It also includes activities that encourage students to think critically about the influence of geography on the growth of cities (and empires).
